Andrea and Matthew met in college. A few years (and medical school degrees) later he popped the question and she said yes! They live in Boston but recently were the guests of honor at a party celebrating their engagement on Long Island. Before the guests started to arrive, I stole them away for some quick portraits... So. cute. They had engagement photos done a few weeks before the party, which was awesome for me because they were old pros :-) I love how the cake matches Andrea's fab dress! The Father of the Bride-to-be gave such a touching toast. Happy planning and congrats to YOU Andrea and Matt!! Nothing but love.

It's after midnight so that means that: a) yeah, I need to go to bed like...now. b) IT'S HALEY'S BIRTHDAY!!! Today is Haley's actual 1st birthday but I met up with her and her whole familia to celebrate this past weekend. The party was relocated last minute (literally, last minute) thanks to Hurricane Sandy but Haley's parents made.it.work. First thing you need to know about Haley - she literally has the most ENCHANTING eyes I've ever seen. Ever. I think I said "oh my God...her eyes!" 50 times while I was editing these shots. Speaking of making it work - I never would've intentionally planned a mini-family shoot in an alley between restaurants in Rockville Centre, but I actually love how these turned out. These kiddos need some serious ticklin' to turn those frowns upside down... See!? HOLY EYES BATMAN!!! Party time!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY HALEY!!!!!
Meet Emily... She's the sweetest thing ever. Look at that shock of hair! Emily celebrated her 1st birthday today. Everyone was there to wish her well and shower her with hugs and kisses (and cameras!) Turning 1 is a really big deal because Emily was born premature and gave everyone a pretty big scare. But there's one thing you need to know about her...her Mommy and Daddy love her to pieces. That last one? Yeah...that's my fave.
Guess what I just did? Blogged everyday for a week. BAM! Another item on the 30 in 365 list done. Yesterday was JJ's first Holy Communion. This handsome young dude was dressed to the nines and surrounded by family and friends to celebrate the occasion. I know JJ still thinks girls have cooties but seriously? 5 years from now? Watch out ladies! Everyone headed to Dave and Busters after the ceremony for some food, games and fun. I LOVE this next shot because from the second we got there, JJ literally was a blur - running around with his cousins and friends. JJ and fam - it was so fun meeting you guys!!
Last weekend I met up with Andrew and company for some portraits before his Bar Mitzvah. I have several Jewish friends and have been to Jewish Weddings, Passover Seders etc. This, however, was my first Bar Mitzvah. For those of you Non-Jewish blog followers, let's turn it over to Wikipedia: Bar Mitzvah (Hebrew: בר מצוה) and Bat Mitzvah (Hebrew: בת מצוה) are Jewish coming of age rituals. According to Jewish law, when Jewish boys reach 13, they become responsible for their actions and become a Bar Mitzvah (plural: B'nai Mitzvah). Boy becomes man. Love it! Let's roll the videotape: Here's Andrew. He was such a gentleman, putting up very patiently with my paparazzi shutter-snapping. HELLO HANDSOME. It took a few incredibly corny jokes for me to get this smile. So worth it! The ceremony took place at the Garden City Jewish Center. Photography during the actual ceremony is strictly forbidden, so Andrew's Mom coordinated early arrivals for lots of picture taking... From what I can see, Andrew's got such a loving and supportive family that his transition into manhood should be smooth sailing. Mazel Tov!
