I was counting on sharing tons of photos from my sessions today, but Sandy had other plans. Until next time, stay safe and happy hurricane everyone!!
At our first pre-marraige counseling session, the Pastor at my church sent Joe and I home with a lengthy questionnaire that we must each complete. There is a whollleeeee involved "who does what" section that definitely made me a tad.bit.embarrassed. Who goes food shopping : who cooks : who cleans : who does laundry. I have never really excelled in the domestic arena and I fear our next session may be a little on the awkward side. Don't go feeling sorry for Joe just yet though. What I lack in housewifing I make up for with good old fashioned charisma and HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS SKILLS.

So here's the deal...I LOVE shooting weddings. Neveen and Basil's was certainly no exception. They got married at The Waterside Restaurant overlooking the Manhattan Skyline. YUP. Twas beautiful. Let's jump right in to the images, shall we? When I got there Neveen and Basil hustling around - getting ready and making sure the room was set up correctly. Which it was. MUCH more on that later... We headed out into the gorgeous autumn air for some pre-ceremony portraits. I LOVE me a couple who makes each other laugh :-) I hope these guys laugh when they see this photo. This dip took a few different attempts. But they nailed it in the end. I LOVE THIS BOUQUET. And the flawless color coordination of the day in general. When I saw this shot on the back of my camera 2 seconds after taking it, I'm quite sure I said something inappropriate. GORGE JUSS. At some point culling these images became impossible because they are ALL slammin. Hey guys, you are attractive. Love, me. IT'S MARRYING TIME!!! Man and woman become one. I really loved this sweet ceremony :-) Making it official... ALRIGHT STOP, collaborate and LISTEN. Seriously, Neveen's cousins put together the most breathtaking array of color-coordinated desserts and details. Pair that with the floor-to-ceiling windows and this photographer was in heavennnn. First dance. EVERYBODY DANCE!!! Here's a fun story: this cutie pie was dodging me all day. Pretending to be shy and whatnot. Then, while all the grown ups ate, she hammed it up out of nowhere alone on the dance floor. Hey little lady, GOTCHA! Well, the votes are in. Neveen and Basil, you guys are the cutest. You are in Hawaii right now, which makes me insanely jealous, but also happy....you deserve some R&R!!! Cheers! Thanks for making me a part of your nuptials.
I shot an AMAZING wedding today. So so soooooo many pictures to go through but I plucked a few of my faves from the bunch so Neveen and Basil can get a quick peek before they jet off to their honeymoon in Hawaii (they don't know it yet but they are taking me with them). <3 <3 <3 Congratulations Neveen and Basil!! Stay tuned for 3,000 images from this wedding. Cuz it rocked.
Rebecca is a former coworker turned dinner-date-pal. I was there the day she and Howie got married and now they are PREGNANT! YAYY!! Here they are in the nursery of their new home. Did the color of the walls give it away? It's a girl!!!!! I totally pressured Rebecca into having half the shoot in their empty house because I had shots like THIS ping ponging around in my head...LOVE. Then we headed out into the AMAZING autumn light for a few more shots. This next one? Yeah, it's my favorite. Something really awkward and hilarious had just happened. Love this. NEW FAVORITE! Stay tuned for more pics of Rebecca and Howie but instead of a bump their accessory will be a teeny little baby. Congrats you guys! Can't wait to meet her!
Here's some "anytime" Gillies pictures for your viewing pleasure... It was cute when we first got Gillies and thought "AND he has short hair so he won't shed a lot." Okayyyyy.
I spent some LONG overdue quality time with Lennon and Eden this weekend (HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY EDEN BADEDEN!) at a pumpkin patch out east. Obvioussssssly I brought my camera. (I mean, really?) Here's Eden, looking absolutely adorable as usual.... And here's camera shy Lennon. Children of the corn! So my friend Moira is a little bit cray cray and doesn't like to be in pictures. So glad I talked her into a 30 second session in the grass...love these! Beautiful girl. Brother and sister. What a pair. Ending on my favorite shot. She. Is. Breathtaking. I know I'm biased but guess what? Chicken butt!
Probably the coolest thing that's happened since I started my business is the photogafriends I've made along the way. It would be easy to assume that photographers in the same area would be competitive and guarded - but I've actually found the exact opposite to be true. I have been fortunate enough to connect with a cool group of peeps who share information about shooting/workflow/business ops and more. Nicole is a photogafriend who 2nd shot for me during Rachel and Bo's wedding and helped keep my sanity intact when, on the way there, I missed the exit and drove 100 miles out of the way. Panic ensued. Real live, stuttering FREAKING OUT panic. We ended up JUST making it on time but I owed this gurrrlll a favor big time. She mentioned recently needing some headshots for her new website so BLAMMO here we are: Oh, did I not mention that Nicole is freaking GORGEOUS!? London fog? Ta-da!! Happy hump day :-)
