So when I arrived at her Mom's house and found a totally chilled out Karen looking GORGEOUS after hair and makeup I let the waves of calm roll over me. This small wedding was so much fun to photograph. I'll stop blabbing and jump into the images...
I first met Karen over a cup of coffee and as we chatted about the details of her upcoming wedding I thought...hmm she seems really laid back. But brides are tricky! They pretend like they are laid back and then the day of the wedding arrives and BAM...stress sets in. I mean really, who can blame them? Weddings are s.t.r.e.s.s.f.u.l. So when I arrived at her Mom's house and found a totally chilled out Karen looking GORGEOUS after hair and makeup I let the waves of calm roll over me. This small wedding was so much fun to photograph. I'll stop blabbing and jump into the images... Lets talk for a second about Karen's simply and chic gown. LOVE this dress. holy HOTNESS. Nothing more awesome than a bride that KNOWS she looks good... Meanwhile...at the church... Here's Chris and the guys hanging out before the ceremony I have a "don't ask don't tell" policy about what goes on the night before a wedding so I'll let the Red Bulls do the talking... FAVORITE. MARRIED!!!!! I love these guys. They are the quintessential "ying and yang" couple. Karen is the serious to Chris's goofy and vice versa. WHERE BROOKLYN AT!? At first I was all "get outta the way brah!!" but I actually kind of love this shot Karen and Chris, congrats!!!! Many years of happiness ahead of you guys...I can tell :-)

I spent my morning with an adorable little girlie named Catalina. She is turning one in a few days so I met up with her for some portraits in the park. Then we headed back to her house for some cake-smash fun. If every one of my little clients was as content and smiley as Catalina, I'd have the EASIEST job ever. THE EYES. So beautiful. Look at the birthday hat Catalina's Mommy found!!! CAKE SMASH!!! yum. Happy Birthday Catalina!!!!
Karen and Chris got married in Brooklyn this morning and oh my word what a beautiful day to tie the knot! A little birdie told me that these two LOVE black and white photography so here's a teeny tiny sneak peek (in black and white, of course!) at their nuptials... I know the title of this entry is "one frame" but really?....way too hard to choose. Can't wait to get the rest of these edited and posted!!!
You know that scene in "A Christmas Story" when the Dad is waiting for his major award to arrive? That was me waiting for the UPS man to bring me my new toys from B&H Photo. The most coveted of which being the 135mm 2.0 lens. Luckily, it finally arrived while my favorite model was over for dinner. Without really asking, I threw a bottle of water and some bug spray at her and dragged her into the fields around the corner. Here's Rebecca standing in as my beautiful test subject: Verdict? This lens is a keeper. Oh, and Rebecca is BEAUTIFUL and should probably frollick in sunlit meadows more often. That too.
Lets be real. I LOVE surprises. Especially when I'm involved in them. BACKSTORY: Kaitlin is my very best good friend since the 3rd grade. And if I used terms like "soul sistah" I'd come right out and tell you that this gurll is my friggin soul sistah. When I'm having a particularly tough time being a grown up, all I need is a lunch or a 2 hour phone convo with her and I feel recharged and ready to take on the world. She is on a short list of people I can truly be 100% myself around at all times. LOVE HER. Her hubby Chris ain't too shabby either. Their wedding day (exactly one year ago today!!!) was a rainy one and the weather dampened the amount of pictures they have - just the two of them - from the day. Chris and I got in cahoots to surprise Kaitlin for their 1-year with a sunset beach photoshoot. Ummm sign me up! I found them sitting on a bench on the boardwalk at our secret meetup spot. When I creeped up behind them, Kaitlin did one of these: "Hey Catherine....wait...WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?" Success!!!! Surprise shoot commence! Beautiful beautiful BEAUTIFUL ladygurl. annnddddd FAVORITE! Kaitlin should probably always sit in front of a blue wall. Jussttt saying. 2nd favorite! STOP THAT LAUGHING. this is a serious photoshoot dammit. see? Kaitlin and Chris....as your maid of honor, I kind of think I should photograph you EVERY year on your anniversary. T'would be fun! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY you crazy kids.
I have taken a guilt-free break from EVERYTHING this week (including my blog) because I was on vacationnnnn and it was glorious! I'm back now, just answered a bunch of emails (thanks all for your patience) and I'm feeling super relaxed and re-energized for a session this weekend that I'm too excited to even talk about. More on that in a few days but for now here are some shoddy iPhone pictures of my quick Jersey-shore getaway with Joe. YES! Here's a shot of the Wildwood boardwalk amusement park. Very sad to admit that I no longer find roller coasters enjoyable because they give me a headache and hurt my back but I rode them all anyway (because I refuse to give in to my inner 40 year old) and now I get credit for #27 on my 30 in 365 list! Here we are on top of the hugest Ferris Wheel e.v.e.r. Forgive the terrible quality but my hands were shaking like a leaf because, as it turns out, I also hate heights now. We both admitted to each other afterwards that the giant Ferris Wheel was the scariest ride we went on.
There you have it. A tiny, low-budget glimpse into what I've been up to. I'll be back with fun pictures to share soon! Hope everyone had a great week and an awesome 4th of July!! |
