it's still a little chilly here in NY but the first signs of spring are here in the form of little baby buds and blossoming trees. I snapped this picture while walking Gillies and I figured I'd pop in here say hello. Sooo...hello! Happy spring!

Before I get into this post, there are a few things you need to know. 1) Emanuela is the cutest ever. 2) See item #1. When I arrived at Emanuela's she was just waking up from her nap and the hooplah was already underway with many aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents there to celebrate her big day. Oh hey there cutest nursery of all time, how's it goin? Emanuela was wayyy into enabling my addiction and obsession with baby eyelashes. Sighhh. Beautiful. Gorgeous girl. This next one is my favoriteeeee. Such a perfect summary of the day. This little chica was the star of the show. Dressed, looking fabulous and ready to go! Welcome to the world beautiful Emanuela! With the amount of people who love you, I'd say you'll be just fine.
oh hi there! i know i've been slacking on the blog front this week but I've been busy with some photogafriends learning how to do cool and scary things like off camera flash... Here's one Tricia snapped of me, my awesome gray hairs and my fancy new glasses getting our learn on: So I know I've been a little MIA but STICK around.... ......because I've got updates and sessions galore to share tomorrow. I can't believe I just did that.
It is a beauttiiffullllll day in New York today so I was definitely excited to get out into the warmth and sunshine to shoot headshots and portraits for Alexis. She is a student and aspiring actress but I happen to think she should consider a career in stand up comedy because the two of us were hysterical (or delirious?) for a good amount of the session. Here she is "getting out the ridiculous faces I've been trying to hold in the whole time...." Now that that's outta the way, let's get down to bizznesss.... oh hey there GORGEOUS giant blue eyes....how you doin? My 2 favorites: A lot of these were taken behind a somewhat shady old-warehouse-type-thang...Alexis very patiently followed me without complaint in her faboosh heels and happily sat in yucky weeds and whatnot whenever I asked. What a gal! After the warehouse the next stop was a dumpster. I LOVE contrasting an adorable subject with dirty grimy backgrounds. For realz. That's all she wrote. Alexis, it was a pleasure meeting you - keep listening to the voice in your head and see ya on the big screen!
Lemme just throw it out there. I have this weird tendency to become a little bit emotionally attached to inanimate objects. I won't go on and on but all I'm gonna say is be glad you weren't there the first time I watched Toy Story 3. My ugly-cry-face reigned supreme that day my friends. ANYWHO - I came home from work today and found a BH Photo box waiting for me containing the 85mm 1.8 - a lens I've been lusting after for months now. I excitedly opened the package and introduced my new buddy to his camera bag mates. Hello lover... This all started when Tricia suggested I try hers during our January shootaround...I was so stuck in my zoomin ways but I reluctantly popped it on my camera and snapped the following images. It was love at first click.... Helloooooo creamy bokeh. Since Tricia wasn't around today, and Joe was still at work...yeah...you know where this is going don't you... Welcome to the family little buddy, can't wait to break you in during this weekend's session!
The clocks sprang ahead last night and while most are griping about an hour of lost sleep, I am (along with every other photog on the blawwwck) relishing the extra sunlight.
Gillies and I took a walk just now as the sun was setting. Yesterday at this time, we would've been in complete darkness. Yahooo and let there be light!!!!! I took some shots of P[ART]Y Art Studio in Bellerose Village recently. The studio is owned by two of my old ballin' buddies, Kristin and Alison. I am a huuggeeee fan of this place because a) it's pretty much the cutest thing you've ever seen and b) gotta have love for my jock-turned-artsy-fartsy sistahs. In all seriousness, the studio runs amazingly creative workshops and is a great place to take the kiddos during the winter, or any season for that matter. They also put on super fun birthday parties, which is exactly what was going down while I was there. I was completely mesmerized by the past-projects displayed around the room. When I say "mesmerized", I mean I wanted to put down my camera and start crafting right in the middle of Sean's birthday party. But that sort of thing is probably frowned upon. And also, I don't think those adorable multi-colored chairs would stand a chance against what I got goin on. If you have kids and live in the Floral Park, New Hyde Park, Stewart Manor, Franklin Square area, you MUST check out P[ART]Y Art Studio. Why? Because I said it's awesome. And I do a lot of things, but I DO NOT say something is awesome if it is not.
Visit their website or facebook for more info. Congrats Valdners!! I spent this weekend in Florida with my family celebrating my Dad's 60th birthday. The wholleeeee family. Parents, kids, grandkids and others. Party of 14 please!! I am rocking a severe case of the Sunday Sads so to cheer myself up, I put together a dorktastic slideshow set to music. But first, my favorite picture from the entire trip. My Dad and his Granddaughter Claire on the beach. Dad, we love you. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!
